My Story

From Periods to Passion

So I'm guessing you're here because you want to know a bit about me and how I ended up obsessed with menstrual cycles. Well, it's been a journey.. So let's start at the beginning.

I had just turned 13 when my period first arrived, and let me tell you, it was a rollercoaster. Growing up with a family history of painful periods, I knew I was in for a rough ride. Fast forward a few years, and I was drowning in cramps, tears, and anger towards my body. Every month, I dreaded the arrival of my bleed and slowly started hating the fact that I was born in a female body. I couldn't understand where my pain was coming from, and started to see my period and my womb in an increasingly negative light. It was like my body had a secret agenda.

So, like many women, I turned to hormonal birth control. It felt like a lifeline. A golden ticket. And the ultimate escape from womanhood. For about a year, I didn't bleed at all, which I celebrated! I mean, no cramps, no leaks, no worries, score! It was like winning the lottery. I truly thought I was living the dream.

For over a decade I relied on hormonal birth control. First the pill. Then the implant. Back to the pill. And finally, I tried both the Kyleena and Mirena IUDs. Not only did it get rid of my painful periods, but also allowed me to focus on school and work without constantly being at war with my body. In those ten years, I was able to finish high school with flying colors. I traveled all over the world, while living for extended periods in Australia, Canada, France, Romania and Guatamala. I also finished my bachelor's in Psychology and master's in Business Administration, and was able to graduate with distinction. Hormonal birth control allowed me to push past my body's limits. To be over-productive, and exceed in today's society that's focused on productivity. Hormonal birth control was like my superpower.

But.. deep down, something was missing.

I felt disconnected from myself, my body, and this incredible power that women hold. I was going through the motions. A robot, without an essence. I started to feel lost in life, and it wasn't until years later that I realized the extent of my disconnection.

After ignoring my body's signals for far too long, it finally screamed loud enough for me to listen. Hormonal chaos ensued. My periods became a nightmare—bleeding for months on end, with debilitating cramps. I also felt utterly lost in life, unsure of who I was or where I was going.

That's when I decided to take back control.

Reclaiming my power

I removed my IUD, which marked the beginning of my journey back to myself.

I wanted to reconnect with my body on a deeper level, to experience its natural rhythms without external interference. I wanted to learn how to embrace my cycle, understand my hormones, and listen to my body.

So I embarked on a journey of self-discovery. I immersed myself in books, podcasts, and workshops, in order to understand my body. It was like piecing together a complex puzzle, one piece at a time.

Through countless hours of research and experimentation, I began to unravel the mysteries of the menstrual cycle. I learned about the intricate dance of hormones, the significance of cervical mucus, and the power of charting my body's rhythms. It was a transformative experience, as if I was rediscovering a part of myself that had been hidden for years.

With each new piece of knowledge, I felt a growing sense of empowerment. I started embracing the cyclical nature of my being, recognizing the unique gifts and challenges that each phase brought. I learned to honor my body's needs, to listen to its wisdom, and to hear and trust my intuition.

As I reclaimed my power, the overwhelming thoughts I kept having were: "Why don't more women have this information?" and "Why aren't we taught any of this?!". I've had many nights mourning my previous self, the one who didn't know better, and who was so disconnected from herself, her body, her cycle and her femininity.

And so I realized that I wanted to share this knowledge with other women.

I want to help you break free from the cycle of pain, confusion, and frustration.

My mission became clear: to empower women to understand their bodies, their hormones, to embrace their cycles, and live life on their own terms, instead of society's.
